WEEK THREE: ATMOSPHERIC ISSUES2Week Three: Atmospheric IssuesAs newly elected Mayor of Sparksville, it has become necessary to address the current economic crisis the local economy is experiencing due to the recent loss of a large local high-tech company that recently moved its manufacturing operations to South Korea leaving the city with an estimated 55,000 citizens in desperate need of jobs (University of Phoenix, n.d). It has become a top priority to bring in jobs that will impact the economic development without impacting the local environment. There are three proposals being presented. We will weigh the pros and cons, determine the impacts of each options, and finally, make a decision on which choice is optimal for the given situation.Choice One: Distribution CenterThe distribution center works as an option when there was is an elevated production rate rather than a standard production rate. The standard production rate would not offer enough pay and benefits for its employees, which would have forced them to seek employment elsewhere outside of Sparksville (University of Phoenix, n.d). The decision to locate the distribution center in the town center allowes the company to save itself a significant amount of money thanks to the nearby freeway. The freeway also encourages a slight increase in tourism that adds to the recovery of the city. The aerodynamic upgrades that are planned to be used on the delivery truckswill also save the company money, which they will to pass along to their employees in the form of better insurance and fringe benefits (University of Phoenix, n.d). The only notable downfall from this decision is an increase in air pollution that can sicken some of the citizens.
