Program III - Market Basket Analysis 10 points Due: 16-Apr-2008 Problem Statement MiJac, Inc. is a large power tools company specializing in the sale of woodworking power tools and accessories. They have recently deployed a website to support on-line shopping for their customers. Based on models such as amazon.com, toysrus.com, bn.com, and others, MiJac executives have decided to enhance their website with an intelligent “suggestive sell” agent. This automated system will suggest to an on-line customer additional items to purchase based on items already stored in the customer’s shopping basket. MiJac has asked us to implement a software system that will identify sets of items that are frequently purchased together (i.e., a market-basket analysis). With these itemsets , MiJac’s own software designers will be able to develop the intelligent agent that recognizes when some of the items from an itemset are present in a customer’s shopping cart and then suggest the purchase of one or more of the other items from the same itemset.
