ethnocentrism- process of judging other ppl and their customs and norms as inferior to one’sown ppl, customs, and normscultural relativism- culture should be as in the context of which it occurs, not based on the values and norms of other cultures a.belief that other ppl and their ways of doing things can be understood only in terms of the cultural context of those ppl; sociology does not agree/disagree with behavior but seeks to understand and explain itb.c.xenocentrism- another culture to believe that foreign ideas are better than yours using others as an example temporcentrism- belief that a specific time period is more important sub cultures- shares the belief of the dominate culture but have their own unique practices and ideas groups of ppl within society whose shared values, norms, beliefs, or use of material culture sets them apart from                          other people in that society; reasons: occupational, religious, regional, ethnical/racial; most die out (i.e. hippiesgamers counter culture- form of subculture that perceived to threaten parent culture (i.e. KKK) hate groups
