Density Determination: Quantitative Measurement Abbey Blair 9/29/15 Period 5 Intro: In this lab i expected to find the densities of different substances, which was the point of the lab. Safety: During the lab i wore protective goggles because of hazardous chemicals that were used such as n-butyl alcohol which is an eye irritant and acetone which is slightly toxic. Procedure: A-Firstly, me and my partner calculated the density of water by measuring an empty cylinders mass, then measuring the mass of the same cylinder with water in it and then getting its volume. B- Next, me and my partner measured an empty cylinder getting its mass and then did the same with the same cylinder with the unknown liquid. Then, we recorded its volume. After, we put the unknown substance back into its container and rinsed the cylinder out with soap and water. C- Next, me and my partner measured a 10mL cylinder and recorded its mass. Then, we filled it with water, measured its mass and then added the unknown solid labeled B getting its mass.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
