Unit VII Case Study 2 Sean Hale Professor Fernando Chavez BBA 4951-12L-2A14-S3, Business Policy and Strategy October 7, 2013 Who are Starbucks and McDonalds? Starbucks and McDonalds have become huge companies in the fast food industry both competing in the coffee side of sales. That is not the only character that defines the companies. These companies can also be defined and separated by their code of ethics. A code of ethics is set in place to help govern the company’s behaviors, from the new employee to the senior executive. In order to do this the said company should provide a strong mission/vision statement, instill key values, principles, show management support, teach personal responsibility, and maintain compliance. In this case study I wish to examine these two companies and determine their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their code of ethics. I wish to find out what makes them strong companies and what they could improve on from behind the scenes.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
