Arthropod control in the context of Veterinary Entomology Integrated Pest Management o A systemic, information-intensive approach, which depends upon the understanding of  the entire system. Striving to use several complimentary tactics or control methods in  order to prevent or avoid anticipated problems rather than remediate the problems.  Components: Cultural Physical/Mechanical Biological Chemical o Stages of Pest Management Identify the past Judge if damage warrants control program Develop integrated pest management strategy Physical or mechanical o Sanitation, aquatic habitat reduction, burns, etc. Cultural control o Pasture rotation, dehorning (prevents wounds) Regulatory control o Quarantine to prevent spread Sterile male release Biological control o Parasites, predators, etc.
