1 Veronica Griffith ADV4400 0469 Module 7: Environmental Factors Individual Assignment (Sweden & Costa Rica) February 27, 2015 This report will focus on two opportunities for international market expansion with our fabric softener line, in both Sweden and Costa Rica. Many factors contribute to either the possible success or failure of our product including, political stability, climate and monetary policy but these are not as important to the success of a laundry care product as are economic growth, or the lack there of, and the laundry care trends of these particular countries. After the 2009 recession the global economy was affected in a very harsh way, both Sweden and Costa Rica have experienced a gradual climb out of those effects with their economies growing slowly but surely. According to the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) although Costa Rica’s monthly indicator of economic activity decelerated in the second half of 2014, economic growth is expected to pick up in 2016 to 4%, aided by a strengthening US economy and still-low oil prices. Although a hefty middle class will be supportive of consumer demand for our fabric softener, it will be inhibited by high unemployment and income inequality, which is prevalent in most Latin American economies and has not seen any decline in recent years. A major economic impact has been the closure of an Intel plant that has negatively affected everything from high-tech manufacturing to the growth forecast of Costa Rica. Tourism is slowly starting to revive remains strongly linked to US demand and has an uncertain outlook but remains an opportunity.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
