Professor Woody Odil Education 1010 31 January 2016 INTASC Standard Assignment 1:6 I plan on using a variety of techniques to encourage involvement of families in my school. Parental is very important and has many benefits, including but not limited to: “more positive attitudes and behaviors, higher long-term achievement, greater willingness to do homework, better attendance and graduation rates, and greater enrollment in postsecondary education,” (Eggen 321). For my techniques I will be doing a few things. First, I plan on calling parents. This will be especially important if I have a student that is struggling. At the beginning of the year during open house I will give each attending parent a form asking for their email, their best contact numbers, best time to reach them, and if it would be okay to text to them or leave a voicemail if I cannot get through to them. That way they will know I am hands on and really want to be able to communicate with them openly about their students. Talking about struggling students over the
