English 1010 My Philosophy of Education “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education,” Mark Twain. I believe that every student should be treated with the ripple effect in mind. A teacher can never fully know what their effect will be on a student. A teacher should attempt to be a guiding, positive, influence on their students, and being such the students in turn should move forward in life while contributing to a better life for all. If teachers equip students for the real world with as many tools as possible, then generation after generation socioeconomic problems will decrease. I personally find a blend of Existentialism and Progressivism to be the most effective in equipping students with the necessary tools to succeed in life. Progressivism allows me to focus on the real world problems that students will need to solve, as well as allowing them to work in groups for encouraging social and emotional skill development.
