The Ritual of the National Football League 2 The Ritual of the National Football League This is considered to be a season of fall ritual followed by millions of people in Nacirema. However, it has morphed into a yearlong obsession of following the NFL, as it is better known. Every summer 32 squads of men come together to compete in a 17 week long tournament to obtain a sterling silver tower. Each squad takes on a ritualistic name of an animal, vehicle, or personage of power as their representative minion. The millions of people who participate in this ritual align themselves with one of the 32 squads and follow them voraciously. The followers of the NFL, in exchange for something of value, receive ceremonial clothing with the squad’s minion and name emblazoned all over it. They wear this apparel throughout the year and in exchange for more valuables, are allowed to go to the massive arenas where the teams battle.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
