1 10-Post-Stratification (Stratification after the selection of sample) 1 Post-Stratification (Stratification after the selection of sample) y Stratified sampling presupposes the knowledge of the stratum sizes as well as the availability of a frame for drawing a sample in each stratum. y But normally the frame is not available. y Consequently, it is not possible to know in advance to which stratum a sampling unit belongs until it is contacted in the course of the survey itself. y While the sample might be selected by some sampling schemes, it is always possible to classify the selected sample by the strata and treat it as if it were a stratified sample. 2 Post-Stratification (Stratification after the selection of sample) Suppose sample is selected by simple random sampling without replacement. Let n h be the number of units in the sample that are in the h th stratum. Let y hj be the measurement of the j th unit that is in the h th stratum.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
