WIN OF THE NORTH Winning the Civil War On April 12, 1861, the American Civil War began despite being a unified country, after more than 60 years of political, economic, cultural and social differences. The North was able to conquer this and win the Civil War on April 9, 1865 through the Emancipation Proclamation, the leadership of General William Tecumseh Sherman, and the Anaconda Plan. Emancipation Proclamation In this section of my paper I will be talking about how the Emancipation Proclamation was one of the key factors of helping the North win the civil war and beat the south. After a battle at Antiatom, known as the bloodiest day in American history where 3000 people died in one day and the battle ended in a draw, Lincoln made the Emancipation Proclamation. The
