“Cesare Lombroso was an Italian criminologist of the mid to late 1800s. He rejected the Classical School, which believed that crime was a characteristic of human nature and instead believed that criminality was inherited.” (Crossman, 2014). A lot of people think that criminal behavior is brought on by a biological reasoning. I do believe that could be the case sometimes, but not all the time. One of our assigned readings, talks about childhood mental disorders and crime. “But within the arrested sample, about one- half of males and slightly less than one-half of females met criteria for mental disorders at assessment points before age 17” (Grisso, 2007). I think that this can also be the case, but I believe that it could be equally combined with the child’s psychological environment as well. However, if you have a mental disorder, your brain activity could be that of an age much younger than what you really are.
