Political Benefits Brazil is a democratic country divided into 26 states and one federal district. As a democratic country, Brazil holds elections for four-year terms by popular vote ("Overseas Business Risk - Brazil," 2014). The country operates under a Federal Constitution which is the foundation of the Brazilian legislative system. Much like the U.S. Constitution, it ensures the citizen fundamental rights and guarantees, and determines the political and administrative structure of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Having held democratic elections since 1989, Brazil enjoys political stability and as such is a major political force in Latin America. The Brazilian government encourages and promotes Foreign Direct Investment. Currently there is a very minimal risk of expropriation ("Foreign Investment in Brazil," 2015). Foreign investors are allowed to have a majority share in the creation of their company. Current President Dilma Rousseff, who was re-elected in October 2014, is continuing in her predecessor’s footsteps of implementing and improving social programs. The ‘Brasil sem Miséria’ (Brazil without Poverty) initiative is aiming to eradicate extreme poverty. This program currently has 48 million Brazilians registered. Companies wishing to do business in Brazil may fare better in navigating the politcal climate by designing operations that give back to the community.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
