Part I: Economics of Plant Production and Photosynthesis Short-run costs What is a fixed cost for a plant? What are variable costs? A fixed cost is the energy needed and used to grow the plant itself or to maintain the life of the plant. It will need light, CO2, and water to live off of and or to grow the overall size of the plant as well. Variable costs is the energy needed and or used to grow the plants fruits, or produce. It will need CO2, Water, & Light to grow and produce fruit that energy used is its variable costs since the usage can go up or down depending on the amount of fruit Long-Run Costs What plant structures should be considered a part of its long-run costs? I would say the roots are the long-run costs of a plant, after the roots the more roots there are the more water and minerals it can absorb and control the rate of fruit made. Long-run costs are defined as a period of time in which all factors of production and costs are variable.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
