CHEM 2070 Prelim 2 Review Questions These questions will be covered at the review sessions on 11/15 and 11/16 and the answers will also be posted on Blackboard after the review sessions. 1. Hypophosphorous acid, H 3 PO 2 is a very powerful reducing agent. It has the structure (HO)PH 2 O in which two H atom are bonded to the P atom, and one H atom is bonded to an O atom. For each bond to an H atom, decide whether it is polar or nonpolar. Assume that only polar-bonded H atoms are acidic. Write the balanced equation for the complete neutralization of hypophosphorous acid with sodium hydroxide. A 200.0-mL sample of H 3 PO 2 requires 22.50 mL of 0.1250 M NaOH for complete neutralization. What is the molarity of the H 3 PO 2 solution? 2. The pentazenium cation N 5 + has been found to have two N-N bond lengths of 110pm and two N-N bond lengths of 130pm. Draw the Lewis structure and resonance forms for N 5 + and determine the most important resonance contributor. What is the geometry of this molecule?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
