ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY 3 Annotated Bibliography Bleidorn, W., Kilmstra, T. A., Denissen, J. J., Rentfrow, P. J., Potter, J., & Gosling, S. D. (2013, October 18). Personality maturation around the World: A cross-cultural examination of social-investment theory. Psychological Science , 24 (12), 2530-2540. http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/0956797613498396 Personality maturation is the subject matter in this article by Bleidorn et al. These psychologists were able to survey many different types of ethnic people in a total of 62 different countries, in order to test different people and the maturation of their personalities (Bleidorn, W. et al, 2013). They used longitudinal and cross-sectional studies for their research using social-integration theory and the Big Five theory that describe the big five personality traits as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism (Bleidorn et al, 2013). Based on their research, even in diverse cultures, people in early to middle adulthood who are faced with multiple adult responsibilities are proven to mature faster than people who do not have such responsibilities (Bleidorn et al, 2013). Their findings even proved that young adolescent, or teenage mothers from ages 15 to 19, mature faster than those who do not have children at this young age (Bleidorn et al, 2013). Women were discovered to be considered at the age of marriage at different ages among different nations. In Sweden, the average bride is 32, in the United States the average is 26 years old; and in India, the average is 20. Circumstances and responsibilities seem to determine the speed of maturation in most cases, however the Big Five Personality traits reflected some differences in the results as well.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
