Clearly label all axes and axis increments. 1. A 6 m thick gravel wide fill (γ=20 kN/m 3 ) is to be placed over a soil profile consisting of 18 m of normally consolidated clay over a silty clay. The water table is at the ground surface (top of gray clay layer). In order to speed up the consolidation of the thick gray plastic clay layer, prefabricated vertical drains are installed in the gray clay layer. They are installed in a triangular pattern such that the drainage distance for each drain is 2m. The properties of the gray clay layer are: γ=16 kN/m 3 , e 0 = 1.7, C c = 0.94, C α / C c = 0.04, c v = 3x10 -3 m 2 /day, c h = 9x10 -3 m 2 /day (note: c h

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
