Critical thinking is “manual thinking (not automatic), purposeful, being aware of  the partiality of your thinking, a process, and thinking that uses a toolset” (Kallet,  2014, p. 3).  Automatic thinking is part of the brain pattern and occurs on a daily basis naturally while manual thinking involves more work and requires the brain to turn off  automatic thinking. Critical thinking is purposeful since it requires a conscious  effort and forces you to become aware of your thinking. Being aware of our  biases, prejudices, and inherit values is also a critical component of critical  thinking and allows you to see things from other viewpoints. Critical thinking is  also a process and requires a series of steps. For example, one may begin by  assessing a situation, asking questions, researching, and then come up with a  conclusion. Finally, critical thinking uses a tool set and is based on a framework

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
