ZhichuanBan Physics 222Lab BingLi EC Lab Report 1. Question of the day: is electric charge created/ destroyed or does it just transfer from one object to the other? A: electric charge just transfers from one object to the other. 2. Activity 1: The Braun electroscope (a) Set up: first use alcohol and tissue clean and dry the rods. Then rub PVC rods with tissue. Hold the rod about a foot above the electroscope, and then lower it toward the disk of the electroscope till touching the disk. Repeat the same thing to the acrylic rod and aluminum bar. (b) Observation: when lower the rod toward the disk, the rotating vane starts moving away from the vertical support. As the rod getting closer to the disk, the rotating vane goes further from the vertical positon. The same thing happens to the acrylic rod, even the direction vane moving. However, the aluminum bar doesn’t have any observation. (c) Analysis: PVC rod and acrylic rod can make vane move because they are carrying the charge. The reason why vane moving to the same direction is because the rod and the vane has the same sign of charge, make them repel each other. However, aluminum

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
