‘Market technology’ The knowledge economy is the increasing role of knowledge as an economic actvity, bought and sold in markets for technology Technology comes in different forms: - intellectual property – patents - intangibles – software and design programs -embodied in a product /prototype “Markets for technology defined as markets for intellectual property that is licensed and its close substitutes , that is the technologies or goods that are close enough substitutes significantly to constrain the exercise of market power with respect to the intellectual property that is licensed” (US. Department of Justice, 1995)
