Name: Cheung Wing Kwong Jonathan UID: 3035281342 1. Water Crisis (5 marks) Water Crisis is one of the major environmental problems in China. There are four aspects of the water crisis facing china, select one and summarize that aspects regarding to water crisis of China based on the materials in the handout (Within 200 words) Insufficient water resources, the overloading demand on water resources, serious water pollution and low utilization rate of water are the 4 aspects of water crisis facing China. I would like to introduce to first one. According to World Bank, out of 600 cities, 400 cities of China have insufficient water supply. Worse still, around 16-17% of Chinese are suffering severe water shortages. Actually, people live far away from two major rivers (Yellow River and Chang Jiang) need to rely on the rain water. However, in China, the uneven distribution of water resources leads to the problem of water shortage in some places or in some seasons. First, around 60%-80% annual precipitation focuses in 4 months in summer of China. That means a lot of places in China experience droughts and water shortage in winter.
