Volcanoes: The Sleeping Giants Volcanoes are the mere evidence of the continuously changing Earth. When a volcano erupts, piles of rock, ash and enormous volume of different gases are send into the atmosphere in beautiful eruption plumes, but this majestic beauty and spectacular pyroclastic display can kill thousands of people and can destroy a wide array of land masses. Therefore, intensive research on the activities and the behavior of about 1500 potentially active volcanoes worldwide, excluding thousands of small volcanoes along the oceanic ridges must be the primary concern of the humanity. 1 Origin of volcanoes, mountains or hills can be explained by the theory of plate tectonics. According to the theory, beneath the earth’s crust are mosaic of separate pieces of rigid plates that are ceaselessly moving in response to the forces originating from the Earth’s interior. 1 These tectonic plates converge, diverge and slide with each other forming volcanoes, mountains and hills.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
