ASSIGNMENT TWO: SAS 70 STANDARDS 2 There is not a certification process involved in the SAS 70 assessment. SAS 70 allows an Audit or to conduct an independent evaluation and provide an opinionated report on the servicing organizations control methods. At the end of the assessment the auditor will either submit a Type 1 or a Type II report. In a Type I report, the auditor assesses the efforts of the organization in preventing accounting inconsistencies, incorrect data entries and mishaps at the time of the audit. In a Type II report, the auditor assesses the control methods implemented. A Type II report data captured at a specific time and it also includes the information contained in the Type I report. SAS 70 audit reports are requested either by the service organization or the customer. Type II reports provide customers with a since of trust about the organization while showing management likely areas that need improvements.
