Alyousif1 Name: Yasmin Alyousif Instructor: Professor Batty Course: English 113A Date: 22-11-15 Drug Addiction (Child Welfare) Social justice implies that all citizens acquire the same and equal rights. Child welfare is one of the social justice issues that should be emphasized by any society in order to attain social justice. There is an increase in number of children who are neglected, some who are abused and others unwanted. The number of foster children has gone reducing due to their disappearance at places of residence. This may be because these children normally depend on society for their survival, they don’t have a voice to speak for themselves and if not spoken for, they lack that opportunity and thus sometimes feel ignored in the society. This probably may have increased to a number of them going unseen (Swift, Karen& Marilyn, 8). Though countries try to preach about love between parents and their children, there are high rates of maltreatment being reported every now and then, this sometimes occur as parents try to impart discipline in their children but they go to the extent of injuring them which is dangerous. Some other children lose their lives from maltreatment and these cases have always been reported. Parts from child abuse, some children are being neglected as a result of poverty and this lead even to more deaths than child abuse. The highest number of children below the age of 18 are said to stay in poverty and most of these families being female headed. Many cases are nowadays being reported of neglected children and most of them tend to involve themselves in drug abuse and finally become drug addicts.
