Alyousi1 Yasmin Alyousif Professor Batty ENGLISH 113A 27 October 2015 Is change inevitable? “Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.” This is the maxim along which A lived before he met Rhiannon. After living in different bodies experiencing different lifestyles without bothering to be attached to anyone, any lifestyle or situation, he comes to experience life from a new perspective. In his story, “Every Day” David Levithan looks at the theme of love and acceptance, which many youths struggle to achieve in their everyday life. The paper looks at A’s life as he changes from one personality in different body to another until he meets Rhiannon his heartthrob. This paper seeks to demonstrate that love goes deeper beyond the superficial being and no form of superficial changes can create love. A has to convince Rhiannon that he is better, real and loving, but the main problems is that he has to convince Rhiannon that it is the same personality in different bodies. On the other hand, Rhiannon has to contend with different personalities from skinny to fat, to black, to female, and other body structures. The story takes a perceptive stance at reality and life. In A’s peripatetic existence, the human condition is looked at from a very unique perspective. A
