In fact, mental health professionals and addiction specialists make a distinction between abusing a substance and becoming dependent on it. Although these two conditions are not the same, they’re often interrelated. Exploring the difference between abuse and dependence may give you insight into your own or someone else’s behavior. In the video the individual being interviewed has some real issue to resolve in her life. She needs to realize the path she has chosen is not the right one to continue on living in. The Counselor who is there for motivational purpose must allow the client to feel a sense of safe keeping and the ability of control over their life. Substance abuse is only control when the individual realizes there need to be change. In this video this motivation speak has allowed the individual to realize their self worth and to fix the problem by making better decision based on goal oriented event to occur.
