Composition II Paper 2 – Argument Purpose Make a claim about a controversial issue, support that claim with evidence as discussed in Norton Chs. 10 and 33, and admit and refute opposing points of view. Tasks The following are guidelines for how to move forward. You will likely not “walk through” these step-by-step as writing is a recursive process, often folding back upon itself. Also, you will likely engage in many of the following tasks simultaneously; complete them as best suits you. Leaving the work until the last minute does not suit anyone. 1. Determine your rhetorical situation (Norton Ch. 1-5.) What is your purpose? Who is your audience? What is your stance? This assignment constrains you to the genre of essay and the medium of paper and ink (word-processed). 2. Locate three academic sources through the USC Upstate Library. Locate two reliable sources on the www (five total). Be sure to cover competing points of view. You will not be able to write a successful argument if you cite only authors who agree with you.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
