Islam In North America Lecture 2 Sept. 8, 2014 History of Islam Trace back to the same root of Christianity and Judaism Abraham: was born 4000 years ago in a place called Ure, Iraq. Sarah, Abrahma’s wife could not have kids so she gave her Hager (black maid) so that she can give birth the Ismail. Later on Sarah gives birth to a birth name Isaac. Both households couldn’t get along so Hager and Ismail get moved to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Prophet Moses: Allah speaks to Moses through the burning bush. He tells him to lead the people out of Egypt. Moses gets sent to the Pharaoh to free the children of Israel. David: In bible he is a bad figure. In Qu’ran he is a good upright person Jesus/Issa: is seen of a prophet for Allah in Islam. In Christianity the prophet is seen as a son of god. Prophet Mohammed (pbuh): Born in Mecca. Worked as a Shepard. Last Prophet. During the time of the prophet the women would propose to the man.
