Clean the mind body and the soul of the Muslims. Created a drug free environment, leadership. The fruit of Islam were a strong militia. Protected the community and their women. Had their own banks, industry. Had their own news papers- Mohammad Speaks. Preached on the streets. Established places of worship called temples not mosques. Called leaders ministers instead of Emam. Most members are males form the lower class. The idea of a black prophet was very appealing. Prepared to take on the government, often times challenge the government. Spread very fast. Died 1971, had seven sons. Successor was Warith Al-Din. Al-Din studied in Saudi Arabia. Challenged his father’s message. Expelled from the movement and brought back, elected the leader of the movement. Rejected his fathers teaching and denounced Fared as god and Scientist. Stated that his father’s message was a stepping-stone to true Sunni Islam. Moderate guy. Stopped preaching his fathers hatred. Seen as the spokesman for the Black Muslim community. Some of the
