Organizational Behaviour: Anthony Psycharis Class notes Chapter 2 Dispositional Approach: - Focuses on a person’s personality traits, people are better suited for certain tasks or jobs depending on their character -Individuals possess stable traits or characteristics that influence their attitudes and behaviours Situational Approach: - Focuses on the surroundings and environment that the individual is in, no matter the person’s character traits they will prosper or work well -Characteristics of the organizational setting (i.e. rewards and punishment) influence people’s attitudes and behaviour Interactionist Approach (reality): - Somewhere in the middle of the two other approaches, behaviours are a function of both dispositions and situations -Individuals’ attitudes and behaviour are a function of both dispositions and the situation What is personality? -Set of psychological characteristics that influences the way an individual interacts with others and their environment -The relatively stable set of psychological characteristics that influences the way an individual interacts with their environment Personality Theories: - Locus of Control: behaviour controlled mainly by internal or external factors -
