Issues of Fairness Procedural Fairness - The procedure to become a taxi driver in Vancouver BC, is much more rigorous, and has strong barriers to entry compared to becoming a driver for Uber. It is unfair to install barriers to entry for certain drivers, while not installing these barriers to other drivers. Egalitarianism - Taxi drivers are required to charge higher rates than Uber due to regulation. Taxi drivers have higher insurance costs, and have invested money to access the Vancouver market. For everyone to be equal, everyone must follow the same industry standards. 2. Information Asymmetry Safety - Uber drivers do not go through an extensive driving test. An “experienced” Uber driver test the potential Uber driver on their driving skills. Uber drivers are also required to use their phone to access customers. This gives the drivers incentive to use
