Ratio Analysis of Financial Statements Spreadsheet Assignment 1 Stephon Wilkerson Formatting and Formula Requirements (FFR) Formatting and Formula Requirements (FFR) Step 1: In an Excel file saved following the file naming convention (Your Last Name + First Initial+_cole), create an Income statement and balance sheet by entering the values from the attached PDF of the financial statements into the "FinancialStmtData tab. [see instructions at top of FinancialStmtData sheet] You must use Excel functions to put together your financial statement data- see formatting and formula requirements below. FFR1: All subtotal, subtotals, ratios, and other numbers that need to be calculated are to be calculated using the appropriate spreadsheet functions. You are not to manually calculate any number and enter it into the spreadsheet. For example, do not type \$1,112 in to the Gross Profit, Current Year cell. Instead you should use the appropriate excel functions. To highlight nonadjacent cells, press and hold the Ctrl key while selecting the individual cells FFR2: A dollar sign is presented in the first number for each category (or subsection) and for the total of that category (or subsection). For example in the Balance Sheet, cash is the first listed current asset and has a dollar sign (\$); likewise total current assets is the total for that category of assets, so it too has a dollar (\$) sign. The cells that require dollar signs, should be formatted as currency cells with no decimal places. FFR3: A number preceding a subtotal (an intermediate total) should have a single underline. Numbers that precede a final total should have a double underline. For example in the Income Statement, Cost of Revenue has a single underline because it immediate precedes Gross Profit which is a "subtotal." On the other hand, Net Income is the final total to be computed on the Income Statement, it therefore has a double underline. Subtotals should be Left(Indent)ed by 1 indention using the Indent function of Excel not by pressing the space bar FFR4: Columns should be formatted to all text is presented within a cell. You may achieve this by either increasing the width of the column or by wrapping the text.
