Determine the purpose(s) of the interview. Under the general heading of writing in the workplace, these are the main purposes for the assigned interview: o to determine what kinds of writing are done in the workplace, by professionals whose major or discipline is similar to yours o to determine the amount of time this professional spends writing o to discover how important writing is to career advancement o to uncover the circumstances of the writing, i.e., on the professional's own initiative, at someone else's request, in collaboration with others, with what technology at hand, etc. You might have additional purposes, and that is fine!
