APPLICATION OF NURSING THEORY TO ADMINISTRATIVE 1 Dr. P and class Irrespective of position or practice setting, nurse manager and leaders must have a knowledge of application of theories, models and infrastructure of administration and management to help in guiding nursing practice (McEwen & Wills, 2014). Grand nursing theories can be applied to administrative arena more easily as they are more striving, conceptualized, distinctive, and complex. One such grand theory, which is widely applied by nurse leaders and managers is Jean Watson’s caring theory. According to Watson & Woodward (2010), nursing’s future of nursing in the future is highly dependent on maturity of nursing profession as a unique health, healing, and caring profession Watson’s theory seeks administrative practices and business models to comprise caring as in todays healthcare environment higher acuity of patients, concise hospital stay, highly complex technology and increasing expectations from nurses is changing nursing into a “chore” (Jesse & Alligood, 2010). In todays challenging healthcare system, these complications need more profound and ethical answers by enabling nurses to follow their own professional practice model instead of concise answers like monitory incentives or increasing the number of beds (Jesse et al., 2010).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
