Discussion 7-1: Practical Applications of ANOVA Q : ANOVA is a hypothesis testing technique used to compare the equality of means for two or more groups; for example, it can be used to test that the mean number of computer chips produced by a company on each of the day, evening, and night shifts is the same. Give an example of an application of ANOVA in an industrial, operations, or manufacturing setting that is different from the examples provided in the overview. A : ANOVA stands for the analysis of variance technique, which according to Kothari, (2004), is used by researchers to compare the mean of two or more different groups and identify whether that mean is equal or not. This analysis is in most cases used to test certain hypothesis and assists in determining the best methods to use while carrying out certain activities. It provides results of whether the average value of the dependent variable under test is equal for all groups, equal for some and unequal for others or is unequal for all groups. Basically, ANOVA compares two types
