What is the infectious agent (pathogen) that causes this infectious disease? For example, the name of the bacteria, virus, or parasite. There are numerous different kinds of salmonella bacteria; however, the most common and most talked about in the United States is Salmonella Enterica. Food that is infected with salmonella and is not properly cleaned or cooked, will most likely cause a person to become infected with salmonella. Some animals and humans carry the salmonella bacteria in the gastrointestinal; therefore, could contaminate food, water, and the environment through their feces, especially in areas with poor sanitation. 2. How is this infectious agent transmitted through food and water?
