Edreih Aldana Case Study 8-A High Turnover at the Cafeteria 1. Using what you have learned from studying the various motivation theories, describe the situation at the cafeteria. Sean, a supervisor for Lyle’s Catering Services, is responsible for the supervising the cafeteria at St. Paul College. Sean is in charge of twelve full-time and fifteen part-time workers. Since being on the job for eight months, he has noticed that there has been a high amount of both full-time and part-time employees quitting. This has led to Sean being frustrated due to the amount of time it takes to hire and train new employees. Sean has tried to develop a relationship with his employees by talking to them informally. Although having a good supervisor-employee relationship is important, it does not guarantee employee motivation and satisfaction according to the motivation-hygiene theory. Taking the first step to having a good relationship does give Sean various insight into how he can help motivate his employee’s though. He has noticed that
