STOCKS 2 Stocks Throughout the course of this paper, I will be giving brief explanations on what preferred stock is. Along with why preferred stock is referred to as preferred. I will then give an explanation on the features of a preferred stock and why is makes it more attractive. Lastly I will give my opinion on whether or not I would select a preferred or common stock as an investment. Preferred stock stands as “a form of stock dispensed by an industry that usually pays a secure dividend previous to any distributions to the holders of the common stock of the commerce.” (Bragg) Preferred stock is called preferred because the stockholders receive top priority or first choice when it comes to treatment. Preferred stockholders are first priority when it comes to paying out any stocks before the common stock holders get paid in case there may be a bankruptcy. (Weygandt, 2010)

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
