The usual issue with coming up with new inventions is funding. It takes time (and money) to come up with a new idea and then to get it working (materials, power, whatever else you need that costs time and money). Tesla’s specific issue was that his invention was on such a grand scale it was difficult for him to demonstrate it and thus difficult for him to convince investors to keep investing as well as get new people to invest. This was compounded by the fact that Marconi was able to get a demonstration (however “insignificant”) going in a relatively short time and Tesla kept stalling even though it was his original idea. So you have the investors (Morgan) going “Marconi did it… why haven’t you?”....
