2 Solving Personal Problems: Applying the Five-Step Model Being overweight was never a concern of mine. I've always been the average weight for my height and age; however, my husband and I bought a scale a while back. I weighed myself and was utterly shocked at the results. I was 170 pounds! That has more than what I weighed when I was nine months pregnant with my son and the same weight as my husband. I quickly realized that this was a problem. What is the Alternative? So now that I had identified my problem I had to think of possible Alternatives. I had increased an incredible amount of weight without even realizing it. This lead to me being extremely self-conscious. I had to act fast before this affected my health and self-esteem any more than it already had. I realized that over the years I had acquired a very unhealthy diet along with a lack of exercise. Throughout the day, I would skip breakfast which is the most important meal of the day
