Name: Jen Warren Date: July 21, 2015 ISSC340 Week 8 Assignment (3% of Grade) Lesson 8 Review: Network Management The purpose of this activity is to reinforce what you have learned so far about local area networks technologies. 1. What is an operating system patch? (Minimum word count: 60) An operating system patch is a file of programming code that is inserted into an executable program to fix a bug or problem. This is much like any other ‘patch’ and is meant to be temporary. The patch will remain in place until a permanent solution to the problem or bug is found and then implemented. 2. Why are some users reluctant to store their files in network folders? (Minimum word count: 40) In one of the old companies that I worked for, most employees were reluctant to store any files in the network folder. Much like our text states, network drives and folder to seem to go fairly slowly and can be complicated to navigate. 3. Describe the function of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). (Minimum word count: 50)

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
