EEX2000 Homework Assignment 8 Monica & David Viewing Guide Name: Sarah Sherr (7827-9590) Monica and David are young couple with Down Syndrome. Watch the video to learn about their experience. 1. Briefly discuss Monica and David’s levels of independence. Consider skills they do or do not have that are needed to lived independently, hold jobs, etc. Monica and David’s level of independence is limited in the aspect of everyday living. Because of their intellectual disabilities, this makes it difficult for them to hold jobs to financially support themselves. Though they would not be able to live completely independently, they are able to work helping out with putting papers in envelopes as well as help out the clothing store. They are both able to successfully help cook a meal as well as make their bed. When David gets diabetes, he learns how to do his own insulin by himself 2. Briefly describe Monica and David’s family experiences. How are they currently supported to increase their independence?
