Application Activity Name: Sarah Sherr What disability-related problems would a person with each of the disabilities have in restaurant you saw in the video clip? Make sure the problem is related to the disability . Briefly describe the problem and explain why that is a problem for people with the disability. Also, suggest how the problem could be addressed by making changes to the environment, activity, and/or equipment. Use this clip to complete the activity: (Links to additional clips of the same restaurant on the course site may also be used for this assignment.) Intellectual Disability Problem 1, Why is this a problem?: People with intellectual disability have problems with expressive communication because their vocabulary and their speech skills are very limited. This causes a problem when it’s time to choose how they would want the meal prepared as they might not be able to express their wants to the their waiter. Possible change to environment/activity/equipment: The restaurant could have a menu that has basic vocabulary words to describe the different types of ways. In addition, a good idea would be to have a large picture of the food in the so the individual could see what they are choosing clearly. The waiter could also try to explain it further using basic vocabulary. Problem 2, Why is this a problem?: Individuals with ID might have a hard time understanding the instructions on how to do the fishing. They might not be able to grasp the concept and understand what it is that they need to do.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
