QFD is a way of listening to customers to learn exactly what they want, and then using a logical system to determine how best to fulfill those needs with available resources. It is a product-development tool that translates customer requirements into design and production requirements. QFD ensures that everyone works together to give customers what they want and it gives everyone in the organization a road map showing how every step, from design through delivery, interacts to fulfill customer requirements . A disadvantage cited by practitioners is the complexity involved in using QFD in large design projects; the number of factors used in each axis of the matrix must be minimized if the process is not to become unmanageable. Conversely, if the number is artificially restricted too severely, important relationships may be overlooked .

The 3 main goals in implementing QFD are : 1 . Prioritize spoken and unspoken customer wants and needs . 2 . Translate these needs into technical characteristics and specifications . 3 . Build and deliver a quality product or service by focusing everybody toward customer satisfaction Quality Function Deployment has helped to transform the way many companies : Plan new products Design product requirements Determine process characteristics Control the manufacturing process Document already existing product specifications

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
