Jen Bazzell International Business Communications MGM316-1601B-08 Dr. Sheedy 03/13/2016 Intercultural Mix: Preparing for the Upcoming Project When bringing together multiple people, all from different cultures to discuss and negotiate business, knowledge is key. Familiarity with each culture’s economic, political, educational and social systems will help ensure that business dealings run smoothly, strong relationships are built, and the current project is completed without complications that stem from intercultural misunderstandings. In completing the financing, design and technology, and building materials for the international opening of several fast food restaurants, the company will be working with the United Arab Emirates, China, Mexico and Israel. Familiarity with the economic situation for each of the partnering entities will allow representatives from the company to interact intelligently during discussions on pricing of materials, interest rates on loans, and costs of design and technology. The economic climate of each of the countries is pretty standard across the board. Since the financial crisis in 2009, the economies in each country have rebounded and have over the last few years, grown.

(useconomy.com,2016). All the economies save for that of China are free market/mixed economy’s. China is a communist country; therefore the state does maintain a lot of control over the economy. But, according to fsmitha.com “the private sector accounted for 70 percent of the nation's GDP “, making the economy in China a “Socialist-Market Economy”. Since all of the countries involved in the fast food restaurant project have the same or similar economies, the basis for business and economic concerns is already on an even ground. The economic workings of the countries involved are quite similar, the political systems, vary from country to country. The United States and Mexico are both federal republics. A federal republic is “a form of government made up of a federal state with a constitution and self- governing subunits.”(dictionary.com,2016). In this type of government, the president is elected by the people, there are federal laws and regulations created by the legislation and president as well as individual state/subunit laws created by the states/subunits. The citizens in these countries “have a voice” when it comes to laws that are passed, and who the elected officials are as they have a vote.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
