Joel Devariste Lab 4 Objective : In this experiment, we are observing the effect temperature has on the speed of a chemical reaction of oxalic acid and potassium permanganate at four different temperatures. We will be able to determine the K value at each these temperatures and thus be able to determine the activation energy for this reaction. Procedure: 1. My partner and I rinsed two burets, 3 times with water and 3 times with solution (oxalic acid in one and potassium permanganate in another). 2. We measured out 20 mL of 0.5 oxalic acid from the buret into an Erlenmeyer flask. Then we measured out 10 mL of 0.021 M KMnO4 from the other buret into a 15 cm test tube. 3. We set up two ice baths at 0 degrees C and put the flask of oxalic acid in one and the test tube of potassium permanganate in the other. We set the timer for 5 minutes. 4. After 5 minutes, we mixed the two reagents together in the flask while still in the ice bath until

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
