Types of chemical pollutants Smog- relatively high concentration mixture of both chemical and particulate pollutants over an urban area Haze- lower level concentration mainly composed of particulate matter Fallout- particles that settle out of the atmosphere o “dry fall” Washout- particles or chemicals that are brought out of the atmosphere by rainfall o “wet fall” Two types of smog Industrial 1. Results in acid rain/ greenhouse gas emissions
