Steven Akdemir Instructor Yan Liu Physcs111A Lab 125 Antonio Nigro, Bassam Hinnawi, Alexander Puchalski Conservation of Energy in Spring-Mass System Introduction: We performed this experiment with one main objective in mind: to verify the conservation of mechanical energy in an oscillating spring-mass system. Procedure: Before beginning the lab, we gathered our the required equipment, which was: a computer with Capstone software installed, 850 Universal interface, a motion sensor, a right-angle clamp, cylindrical spring, set of weights, weight hanger, long steel rod, and a short aluminum rod with a groove to hang the spring on. We hung the spring on the groove of the aluminum rod, which was held up by the right angle clamp, with the motion sensor placed right under the weight hanger, as in Figure 1 in the lab manual. For part one of the experiment, we began by measuring the mass of the weight hanger to record its value in the data table, and hung the weight hanger on the spring. At this point, we had already logged into the computer and opened the

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
