Their main responsibility is to provide organizations with information technology solutions and implementation services. Everyday duties include analyzing IT solutions to fit different business models as well as designing, testing and installing systems to meet clients' IT needs. IT consultants also act as technology teachers or technical liaisons, enabling the organizations to use the systems autonomously if they're without an in-house IT department. Top industries or markets needing this position From startups to Fortune 500s, organizations across industries have a need for IT consultants. The workforce has become very technology-driven, but few individuals are actually experts in tech. From time to time, all types of businesses can benefit from the expertise of IT consultants when it comes to streamlining technical operations or improving day-to-day tasks. Generally, smaller-scale companies use freelance or IT consulting firms, while larger businesses may employ consultants in-house.
